we have just moved to glasgow where there is a very old apple tree in the garden.

this tree had masses of flowers and is now laden with small apples.

the problem is that i am dangerously allergic to beestings.

i am loathe to cut down the tree, but know that once the apples ripen, the wasps will be here in droves.

so, i am wondering, what will happen to the tree if i remove all the little apples now, before they have a chance to ripen, or worse, to fall to the ground.

    thank you for your help....

You may be better off chopping it down, although as a gardener with many very enjoyable fruit trees, and hardly ever any wasps[ they like plums best] it would be totally against my inner feelings. You may like to try it for one year first you never know it may be fine and no wasps.

With a mature apple tree there are always going to be lots of windfalls, and even clearing them up will be a problem. Getting the little ones off would be longwinded chore, I think you might be better off removing the tree, but as Hans says it's worth a try for one season!
