I bought a new Clematis Montana yesterday and have planted it to grow up and over a metal arch in the garden. But I’m not sure if I should remove the tripod of canes and plastic ties?
With previous clematis I have bought I have left the canes for a year or so but they had a lot less growth on, this clematis is quite bushy and I wonder if it would benefit from being ‘untangled’ and tied in to the metal trellis?

Yes remove them and set it free.
Then you can train it over your trellis.
