We have recently discovered that our paved garden used to be one level (which explains why it's about a foot higher than the neighbour's and our fence is half buried in the flower bed!)

We would like to remove the paving stones (the mortar is completely crumbled and we have already lifted one to find sand underneath), dig down to make it one level and turf the area.

Does this sound possible as a DIY? I know it will be pretty labour intensive but is there anything else we might need to consider? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!

I'm sure its possible, but you will need a few skips, the raised bed will probably have to go along with the border on the other side.

Basically just flatten the lot and start again.
