I tend to be slightly disorganised not just to gardening but life in general. My wife tells me so and whilst I know its true I always like to think that I have that touch of 'Cantona' magic that turns water into wine, that moment of impulse or spontaneity that if it works makes people stand in awe. Now is the time for change and this year in the garden I am determined that the veggie patch will be organised so that this year I don't have to dig something up to:

    a) Find out what it is
    b) To discover that it isn't ready yet (and probably won't be for some time)

Soooooo my question is how do the folks on GC keep a check of what they have planted, when and most importantly when it is ready for harvesting.

Pen & Paper or computer? I did write down what I had planted but it got so messy and scribbled that now it would need to encryption expert to make head or tail of it. And when I could decipher any of it I had no idea when it would be ready for cropping!

    Help please!!!

A big stone with a painted number that corresponds to a spread sheet. The stones can be reused when the row in question is harvested.

Then put them at the end AWAY from the sand pit, use blank labels at the end nearest the kids.lol

Spreadsheet and a schematic garden plan on Excel , and labels of course. The one thing I don't use is my memory ~ totally unreliable !
