    Hello all,

    First post on here!

I seem to have some problems with Areca palm house plants either the leaves going brown and dieing or the soil becoming infested with Fungus Gnats.

Part of the problem is that I tend to overwater the plant as the soil on the surface looks dry.

What is the best way to repot the good parts of an Areca palm and how much should I be watering it?

    Thank you.

    Hi @Nurture,
    welcome to the forum! :)

How big and old are your Arecas and when did you last re-pot them? If you tend to overwater it might be a good idea to add grit or sand into the potting compost. Also, if the pot is too big, the compost will stay wet too long.

Palms can be a bit challenging house plants but if you can find a bright location away from radiators, you are on the winning side.

Some photos would help to see how they are doing.
