I was just wondering if anyone else had reptiles? I did notice the lovely Cham Colin but haven't yet seen any others.

I've been a reptile fan for years, got my first Corn snake about 4 years ago, built up a collection of 26 whilst I was in Cornwall, along with a few Crested Geckos, Corn snake hybrids etc. Sadly the entire collection and all equipment had to be sold and rehomed when I moved to Scotland. My partner had the same problem, he had kept Coastal Carpet Pythons, Rainbow Boas, Boas, Pythons and the like but also had to rehome when he moved up.

Now we have settled we are starting to fill the hole we both feel without reptiles in our lives. Fred the Corn snake recently joined us and this weekend we have taken on Stumpy the Royal Python and Korma, the Crested Gecko. We will no doubt expand over time, increasing to Boas (something big and chunky for the other half), with a few more Corn snakes and I'd like a few female Royal Pythons to grow on and breed. I have no doubt we'll end up with Tarantulas (yuck, not my choice!), Scorpians and gawd knows what else before long too.

Reptiles are so misunderstood and constantly get bad press. As with most pets, they get a bad name too easily. It isn't their fault, it is due to unknowledgeable and careless owners and neglectful and uncaring Reptile shop owners (not all of them, of course).

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, any other fans out there?

I don't keep reptiles anymore Maddie but in the past Iv'e had Retics, Leopard Geckos, Eyed Lizards and various anoles, Chameleons etc.

Tree Frogs and other Amphibians were my main interest years ago.
Now I just have my 5 Fire Bellied Toads, 2 of them are 15 years old! The pics of them are on this thread somewhere.:)

    Hi
I don't have any reptiles either but love looking at them in the shop, hubby wont let me buy any because we have enough pets already, 2 5ft tanks with cichlids in, a 4ft with axolotls (hence my name and prof pic!) and we also have fire belly toads and fire belly newts. I would love a beardy tho'
can't wait to see some pics of your lot.

no, I heard if you keep frogs and newts together the frogs can kill the newts by getting to amorous!!! not sure if there is any truth in this but its not worth the risk.
I first had newts which I love and this lead to a love of the frogs too....sorry, but the newts are still my favs :)

Best kept apart seeing as all Toads have toxins.

I have a 'pond' at work (really an 8ft allotment tank sunk in the ground) which has Common Frogs, Smooth and Palmate Newts, more Palmate at the moment.:)
