    My Sis in law is a devil for neglecting her plants and so sent me what appeared ,an empty pot!....However after a feed and watering and a few weeks later,this has appeared:)...ID please

    It looks like an Oxalis to me Nick, but I couldn`t say which one.:)

    Me thinks that itis Oxalis regnellii "Atropurpurea" ;) (I have seen it listed with different names as well)

    Yep thats what it is, an Oxlis, looks like a zone 7 type. I have several, but they come inside in the winter.

    Yes Pete,it is rather a splendid plant...so much so I think I would like a 'piece'of it. Does it divide?I'm not sure what's going on under ground.

    If it`s like the other Oxalis, Nick, you should have no problems ponching a bit. Don`t forget, it`s a Shamrock and will spread.:thumb:

    Please folks.....I really need to know the best time to divide her up. Sis in Law wants it back:eek: I have told her it needs more time to recover so time is short!!!!:thumb:

    Me again Pal, I found on a link, that it grows from small bulbs and you divide them. Dont ask me which link coz I cant find it again, for the life of me.:rolleyes: 02

    Nick, cut a chunk of the root system ( with some leaves), now. Oxalis are tough as old boots and the division will be fine.:D

    Hi Paladin, Oxalis Triangularis, I have had one of these for years.
    I stop watering it at the end of October and allow the compost to completely dry out as it needs winter rest. Keep it frost-free.
    Come the beginning of March I knock the compost out of the post and divide the mass of corms into two, re-pot them separately and start watering. Feed every other week when they are all 'up'. The corms double in amount every year.
    Lovely plant.
