How to restore your homepage when it has been taken over by an unwelcome website

This happened to me when I tried to download smileys from Bandoo - searchnu.com then hijacked my browser home page. Managed to get it back though. I have 2 browsers - google chrome and mozilla firefox. Here is what I did:-

To restore your homepage in Mozilla Firefox
Click on TOOLS (top left of screen), then OPTIONS.
A window will appear with various columns at the top - go to the first one "General" (it may say Base) - delete the unwanted website dominating your home page and type in your desired home page URL, click OK

To restore your homepage in Google Chrome
click on the tool symbol (top right) or the 3 lines that are there
click on SETTINGS, and go to where it has the 3rd option with blue words saying "set pages".
Cancel the existing/unwanted website (via the x symbol) and type in the wanted homepage URL. Done!

    Sanity restored!
