I've been sat watching and listening (what a racket) to dozens of Starlings with their young on the lawn ,quite tranquil barring the noise:rolleyespink:....and then a visit from Harry the Hawk:doh:..the birds scattered all but one:sad:...I could hear it screaming in the neighbours garden so I made a run for it,It would have made a fantastic picture but no time for that,he had the screaming starling pinned to the ground with his wings out as if trying to hide it from me,I picked up a branch that was lying around ,whacked the fence and shouted obscenities :old:he actually let go and the Starling went off to join his pals:yes: he gave me a filthy look and cleared off...blimey that was close:phew:...I'm out of puff now:rolleyespink:..I know he's got young of his own to feed but NIMBY:nonofinger:

I saw a Kestrel take a Pied Wagtail chick last year  It was up on a cliff and I couldn't do anything about it, just listen to it screaming. The parents were there trying to drive it away, they were so brave attacking this Kestrel, but it was all too late. Good on you for chasing it off Lolimac

Not a nice thing to see,We had a Blackbird in the garden last year, had 4 chick's it was lovely to see them come and feed them, the @@@@@@@@ magpie found them and they where gone before we knew what was happening.they nested again and this time I hung a wire net over the nest with a hole under the bottom, you should heard the racket they made because they could not get to them:hapfeet::hapfeet:3 chick's left the nest to go on there way.

i cant help but dislike magpies. ever since i watching two playing/fighting over something on a neighbours roof, whatever it was was being flung about and tug -o-war'd with for ages, after a while they dropped it and it rolled down the roof and pitched of the gutter to the ground below, curiosity got the better of me and i went to see what it was, i so wish i hadn't....it was (as im sure you guessed) a little baby bird:sad:

I was the same Honeybunny until years ago I watched a pair nesting in a ravine at the back of my house. They pair up for life like swans and were devoted to the family they raised, that changed my opinion of them. :)
