I've got some compost I used for growing veg in containers last year, which I would like to reuse this year. I'm going to stick with growing potatoes this year since I have very little room and they're the easiest thing to grow. The compost I used was Wickes peat free, would adding some chicken manure be enough to revive it?

You could add chicken pellets, I tend to use the slow release stuff.

I'm just curious why someone with very little room would be growing potatoes, they are probably the one veg that takes up the most space and are as cheap as chips in the supermarket.
    Just my opinion.;)

@pete Sorry, I should have mentioned I grow them in bags on my patio. I definitely don't have room for them in the ground! I used to just have pots of perennials/annuals on my patio but one year decided to do something a little different. Potatoes are most definitely cheaper to buy. It's less about an attempt at self sufficiency to save money, more about the satisfaction of having grown something I can eat

It might be unwise to reuse the same compost if you grew potatoes or tomatoes in it last year, especially if you suffered blight on either. Otherwise no problem, chicken pellets are a good source of nitrogen for foliage. Tubers and roots require phosphate for maximum yield also. A balanced fertiliser such as Vitax Q7 would provide both. There are proprietary potato fertilisers but have never tried these.

@infradig Most of the compost will be coming from containers that housed failed/poor attempts at broad beans, carrots, broccoli and strawberries. Fortunately no blight on last year's crop of potatoes.
