I bought a Dwarf Rhodedendron in July which I thought was growing happily in a pot outside. Yesterday I noticed it was developing brown patches on the leaves:

It is positioned in a sheltered area against a wall, protected from the wind and full sun.
It has never been allowed to dry out, the compost is always moist. Is it dying?

    Hope someone can help.

It does look very much like scorching. It could also be a drainage issue. They like to be kept moist but if kept in a pot need to be free draining at the same time. They also don't like compost up the stem and need to be potted on at the same compost level they were originally potted to.

The latter two causes do manifest themselves and display similar symptoms but it's usually scorching.

You should be seeing new growth now, I'd give it a feed even this late in the year.

It doesn't look as if it's dying.
Few plants have perfect leaves and I think that is all you are looking at.

Thanks everyone, I hope it's not as serious as I first thought.
Could it be fertiliser burn? My OH has admitted feeding it four times since we bought it
