Just a reminder to RHS members that the "Free Seed List" is now available to order from.

If you don't know about it:

You have to be an RHS member
You can order up to 20 seed packets
(you can choose up to 5 additional packets as substitutions)
There is a £12 administrative charge (so think of it as buy seeds at 60p per packet :) )
    Its first come, first served
    The URL is: http://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/Seed-list/Seed-list

Yes, I think they say they mail previous "customers". Maybe that hasn't happened yet, or you accidentally got left off the list. Easy enough to do online though (although the usability of their seed-ordering website is grim. Watch out for the completely non-obvious "Confirm" button on the very final "Buy decision" page.)

Reminder to make your RHS Seed Orders for 2013

(you need to be an RHS member)

I think they have seriously dumbed it down, to the point where I have ordered seeds just for the sake of it, rather than finding things that are interesting / unusual.

Number of packets of seeds reduced from 20 to 12, and price reduced commensurately to £8.50.

Over the summer on garden visits I've been keeping a running list of seed I wanted based on last year's RHS seed list. I finally got round to looking at this year's list and was shocked, I could only find 2 out the 7 I was looking for. So I have to agree with you Kristen, it has been dumbed down. For me it's not worth applying

I guess we should tell them ... otherwise they won't know?

P.S. There are some other seed lists that I have been thinking of joining. They restrict what you can have if you don't contribute, but given that I didn't want anything "Impossible"!!, and hadn't even heard of nearly all the "available" seeds that would do me.

There's one for Lilies (forgotten where I saw it now ... but I think it was RHS), plenty for succulent fans, and we could perhaps revive our Exotic seed swap from a couple of years ago.
