Hi James, I think it would be extremely hard to identify varieties of Rhubarb that haven't got name tags on them. The one I grow is named, by me, "Tissington Giant" due to the fact that years ago while in Tissington Village in Derbyshire I liberated some seeds from a plant in a front garden, [with the permission of the Owner:love30:], and grew nearly a hundred from the seed. It's a great Rhubarb giving sticks as thick as an arm and has a great taste, but the owner of the original plant had no idea of it's variety name.:dunno::scratch::doh::coffee:

I'd hazzard a guess based on when it starts growing but that would only tell if it was an early or later variety :noidea:
