I thought I would give these a shot this year, and sowed the seeds (beans would be more accurate) a couple of weeks ago. I think it is safe to say that these are quite enthusiastic plants as I have had a germination rate of approximately 98%, and now have a load of rather large seedlings.

I am going to have to move them on in the next few days, but I am unsure how deep to sink them - the cotyledons are right near the top of the stems which are 6-8 inches tall, so do I sink the full stem up to the cotyledons?

Sounds like they have gone a bit leggy.
Personally I wouldn't have sown them this early:snorky:;)

I'd not bury too deep, perhaps half way.

I thought I was behind myself for sowings to be honest, I am usually a lot earlier than this. I don't think they are leggy as such, as these huge things essentially uncurled out of the beans over the course of a few days - they certainly seem to have a zest for life!

Yes but they go leggy from stage one if too warm and not enough light.
They grow like the clappers once things warm up properly.

I'll hopefully get them out into the greenhouse and potted on this weekend - that should calm their jets a bit.

I am going to put the heat in there from this weekend with the digital thermostat programmed to kick the heating in at 10ยบ as a minimum.
