I'm on the look out for a ride on lawn mower. Am looking to spend about £1500. I have about 3/4 of an acre of grass. Having spoken to a local shop, i was recommended to have about 41 inch cutting, and also best to have an automatic.

Can anyone advise me on a good reliable brand? Would like to know of anyone elses experience?

    Thanks! [IMG]

i always check out on ebay for info and for bargains, eg a ride on mower for about £125!
    ....
also the main retailers will often answer Q s from prospective customers,at this time of year a bargain is anticipated

From the other thread chewy, some of your plot looks more like pasture and pretty rough. Might be worthwhile hireing untill you get it under control and level out the bumps before letting £1500 of new kit near it. It would also give a much better idea of what you actually need - going by the slope you want something stable and possibly with roll bars.

As to type, a lot will depend on what sort of lawn you want. A rotary is good for rough cutting and general control but if you want a bolwling green then a cylinder with collection is a must

Don't know about makes. We looked into a ride on some time back, but we discovered that we would have to alter the shapes of the flower beds to make using one easier. So when your garden layout is decided upon, watch out that any curves that put in are achievable by the machine you choose.

It may be worth looking at one that will do other tricks as well tow hitch [centre slung cutter]for pulling small trailer and so on, always handy on the days you are doing other improvements, don't forget the shed. ps Reconditioned possibly.
