I'm left handed. Scrivo con la sinistra. 'Sinistra' and 'sinister' have the same root. We're a funny lot.

I quite like being a bit odd, but the world is set up for right-handed people. So I'd prefer to be ambidextrous.

I'm right handed, but when my left hand was out of action after a motorbike accident, I learned to strike matches with only my right hand.

I'm right handed, so obviously this one gets the most use although oddly I hold the telephone in my left hand so neither is redundant. What would I like to do with it? count my lottery winnings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seem to remember, when i was a kid at school, anyone who was left handed or as we called it Corriefisted, was scolded by the teacher for using their left hand for writing. a lot of kids had problems with writing for years as they had been using their left hand since they were born. This crazy Hang Up by teachers gave a lot of kids ,a lot of heartbreak for years.

I'm left handed with one or two things that I might every now and then do with the right hand.
They reckon the number of "lefties" is growing.:D

I was "guided" as a toddler as Primary School to use my right hand for writing.
I still write right-handed, but for everything else I'm a Lefty.
I even have my watch on my Right wrist. I have tried the other side but reading the hairs on the right wrist is not helpful with timekeeping.

I used to write with both hands until after I left School but, from lack of use, left handed writing is a thing of the past.

            I'm left-handed.

Val, it's normal for right-handed people to hold the phone in their left hand. That leaves your right hand free to write messages.

My father was left-handed but forced to write with his right hand. Being the usual stroppy shiney, at home he wrote with his left hand so ended up being able to write with both. He took it further by being able to write with both at the same time :rolleyespink:. This served him well at his work, accountancy, as he was able to work on two separate pages at the same time. It also became a bit of a party trick :heehee:

I too am right-handed but there are some things I find it impossible to do in a 'right-handed' way:

I cannot thread a needle with my right hand, nor can I peel oranges, open tight-fitting jar lids and have always used my left hand to dial telephone numbers. At school, everyone else in my class struggled with the fingering when learning to play the violin (violin lessons were compulsory!), but later, when we were allowed to choose our instrument, learning to play the guitar meant I survived only 2 lessons because my instinct was to play it 'left handed' and since I just couldn't co-ordinate myself to play it in a right handed way, both the teacher and I admitted defeat quite early on!

Not until I had children did I realise that I always changed nappies 'left handed' - at the clinic, only myself and one other Mum (who was naturally left-handed), would do it in the same way and, when it came to spoon feeding my daughters, it just seemed natural to use my left hand to do it. :dunno:

But Tennis and anything else I am righ handed
