I was very sad to hear this news.
Back in my younger days when I was still working for a dealer Sir Roger was a customer of ours. During my time in a customer facing role I met him several times. All that I can say is that he was a proper gentleman and a delight to deal with. He had no airs or graces and he treated everyone with respect at all times. An example to us all.

          RIP Sir

In the link, his family made this comment and I think it is absolutely beautiful:

"He banked his treasure in the hearts of his friends."

Very sad. He was a hero to kids in the 50's and 60's simply because of his sub 4 minute mile.

              RIP

How wonderful that you got to meet the man. It must make the announcement just that little bit more personal.

We had a small handful of treasured customers and he was one of them. They were treasured not because of what they spent, who they were or if they were famous but because they had respect for people. You would bend over backwards for these people.
