hello, i have just joined to try and pick your brains and maybe beg a few seeds?
we have recently finished doing up a concrete barge as our new home and now i am trying to tidy up and prettify the river bank (although 'riverbank' conjures up a very different picture to the reality)this is reclaimed land, having once been a rubbish tip and now being a grotty factory estate. One side we have a lovely river and field view and the other a thin strip of land backing onto a tatty lock up yard that is in constant use that slopes down steeply to the river but does not get wet.I am looking for advice on fast growing evergreens that can stand wind and being riverside. i also want to throw as many self seeding seeds in the mix as i can get my hands on.Any advice will be greatly recieved

    Hi, Vonny! Welcome!
You'll get more answers to your question if you put it in the general gardening section - people tend to just say Hi in here!

How about willows? The type that grow upright, rather than the enormous ones that dangle down. They love water, and would cope well if their roots got wet.

    Hi Vonny,

A very warm welcome  it's hot out there :D

There is an exchange forum on here so if you let everyone know what you want by way of seeds if they are available you should get lucky.

Hello Vonny always nice to welcome another member.
With weather we have been having these last few days I bet most of us would find being on the river very enchanting!

Hi Vonny and welcome from me too. Your garden sounds like it will be very interesting once you get things going. I agree with Dendy about the willows, perhaps a nice group of them rather than dotting them around? Let us know how things progress.
