We live in the country. We live 2 miles from a village. Monthly we carefully empty our ditch of beer cans (nearest shop 4 miles), coke cans (only 2 miles), burger wrappers ( 5 miles).

    Take your rubbish home !!

my god i could rant on this one.........................................................................

    ideas ?????

I can sympathize with you MOL.

We live in the country, but people around here look after it. Where I lived before was in the country in North Cheshire and people used to dump all sorts of rubbish down the lanes, from beer bottles and cans to mattresses and broken up wardrobes.

Used to make us all mad as hell and just wishing be could catch the people responsible in the act. Bit like beaches. People just don't use them, they abuse them as well with litter and all sorts.

Would love to be able to take it back and dump the stuff in their houses and gardens.[IMG]

I agree with you so much.

Last week I saw someone waiting in his car for a friend and he opened his car door & emptied the ashtray in the road. Then he unwrapped a pack of cigarettes & threw the cellophane out of the window. Right in front of our house, aaaaahhhhhgggg! And I don't live in the country but it does so annoy me.

    cheers

The rubbish gets everyone annoyed, what annoys me, on holiday you see rubbish bins every few yards on the beach, but people still leave their rubbish, then it gets washed out to sea,and some poor creature tries to eat it,or gets tangled in it,

MOL I can so relate to your woes we live in a village that is surrounded by so many little lanes which is just ideal for litter bugs thankfully though the council moves the stuff very swiftly so the eyesore doesn't remind too long down the lanes although in most cases it's like swings and roundabouts...no sooner is one lot removed another load is deposited! Hel.xxx.

:thumb: Sympathise completely MoL... We live in the country & although we do have a council litter picker once a week who comes to pick all the litter up on the paths etc..... There are certain paths he does not clean up.. ! When I asked why he didn't do these paths his answer was... "Sorry not on my list"...!!! I phoned the council & they agreed they were not on the litter collection list..!! When I asked if they could be included I was told that it wouldn't change anything this year as it takes a year for it to be added & then for someone to come round..!!!!!!!!!:mad:
:( I don't know... Seems nobody wants to do a job properly these days with our local council...!!! Too much trouble..!!!???!!!??:( So I like you MoL, go out once a week & clear up the path by me, that I use everyday as do Mums & school children..!!!! Even walking in the fields next to the school, you have crisp bags & sweet wrappers deliberately thrown over the fence rather than in the bins that they have plenty of..!!!! :( All very sad I think, that not many people do not see the importance of disposing of litter in a responsible way & taking pride in where they live...!!!!!!!!!:(

:D I will shut up now & hand the soapbox to somebody else..!:D:D

About 6 months back the our council began erecting huge green security gates on either end of all the entries in the town. Because the entry at the back of our row is so small we had to petition to have them put there. Now that it's there a handfull of the residents seem to think it's ok to leave their rubbish there! I don't understand their logic! Me and one of the other neighbours have been going out every so often and clearing up, but Mr Mac tells me not to bother, he's right really, why should I watse my time? It even seems that once we've cleared up they think they'd better 'decorate' it with some new cra*! I would love to catch one of thewm in the act, they obviously know they're in the wrong and do it when no one is about! At the moment there's a couple of bin bags, half a couch and a work-bench! And it's only a small entry! I worry we'll end up with rats!

I forgot to add that we used to live in Switzerland. Once driving someone back to the airport my guest said "Why is it do clean, but you never see anyone clearing all the mess up ?"..................my reply was quick and blunt "Its not cleared up, because no one throws it out of cars to be cleared up by someone else !!"

    PEOPLE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY ,,,AAARRRRGGGGHHHH

Ahhhh dont set me off. We have to put up with people Throwing their chip papers, trays empty cans, you name it. Not locals but football fans cricket fans and concert goers on the way to the grounds. The council attempt to clear it all up, but its a never ending cycle. What does it take to put your rubbish in the bin. When my kids were young, I was forever having to empty their coat pockets of sweet wrappers etc because they were taght never to litter. I find all decency values disappearing, nobody seems to give a damn anymore. 02

I get very annoyed with this situation,we live approx 3 miles from a council tip wich is in the contry,I have seen people miss time there run to the tip only to "fly tip" there rubbish alongside the road in the contryside, instead of going to the tip on another occation.
    SAD PEOPLE!!!!!!

We have similar problems. Top of the garden next to the main road into town, its about a mile to town which seems to be the distance a junk food meal takes to eat, consequently the kids thrown the empty bags, wrappers and cans through our hedge into the garden. It must be local kids as no-one else would be using this route unless they were walking home after a night out.

You can get free software to work with a PC that uses a webcam and could look for movement in your garden (litter being thrown in or intruders) or watch a spot (if it's visible) where people may fly tip. It can record the images or video. For locals dropping litter maybe printing out their photo and asking them to clear up their litter should worry/embarass them into stopping and as for cars chucking things out the window forwarding the registration to the police may get a result.
