    Robert Hardy has passed away, aged 91. Probably best known as Siegfried Farnon in All Creatures Great And Small, he gave fantastic performances in many roles including as Winston Churchill, and of course in the Harry Potter films.

    I grew up watching All Creatures Great And Small, and loved the books by James Herriot himself - so sad to see yet another face from my childhood pass on.

    RIP Robert, and thank you for many hours of entertainment.

        Recently watched all the re-runs of All Creatures on Drama, he was one of those actors with "presence"

          I remember him in Manhunt in 1969! a WW2 serial.
          Also an accomplished Archer and Longbow historian.

              He played so many parts and was one of those irreplaceable Actors that will never be replaced. Really, really sad to lose him.

                Sad news to hear of Roberts passing as he was a fine actor and a true gent:love30:

                As well as being a leading historian of the Longbow of which he wrote two books about the subject,Robert also helped a lot working with the group in the raising of the Mary Rose:love30:

                Sat and watched some of the reruns of All Creatures Great And Small whilst housebound recently and when I watch them this time round I enjoyed them as much as when I watched them all those years ago:biggrin:

                Also forgot to add that Hywel Bennett of Shelley fame died the same day as Robert Hardy...RIP
