Not sure where the best place was to post this picture so hence the new thread. It shows one of my best garden pals.

He's a real cutie, Robert, and I see he has a snail mate. :thumb: That would make a nice wildlife postcard.

I love frogs and toads as does my Sis ... we also love geckos and lizards and other such critters. I have seen, held and photographed a toad here a couple of times and strongy (I think) believes it lives here in the orchards.

Do I dare say my nickname was Frog for about 30 years (because of the sunglasses I wear I hasten to add) and had a license plate on my Ford Pinto in the States declaring such! :flag: I'm now lovingly called Froglet! :)

    Super pic, capney :thumb:

I wonder if he'll stay out all winter or go into hibernation soon? I haven't seen any in our garden of late, so guess they are all snoozing the winter away.

I have a low yorkshire stone wall I put together a few years ago and there are a few crevices as you see in the picture. They just love it and dare not remove them. Not that I would want to.

Is it a frog or a toad Robert? If it's holed up in a wall a toad seems more likely. Super pic and the adjacent packed lunch is a brilliant touch!

It's definitely a frog Dave you can tell with the dark patch behind its eye, lots of them hibernate on land under stones in crevices ect some hibernate in mud at the bottom of ponds they have the ability to absorb oxygen through their skin.
