Robin pears are a very old variety originating in Norfolk - I found this out from googling.
They are a smallish fruit, very sweet and with a red blush on them - hence the name Robin.

I would love to plant one in my garden but cannot find anywhere to buy. I have enquired
at all local nurseries and searched the internet. :dunno:

    Anybody got any information please?

Robin Pear tree arrived today - Whoopee! In a pot/container so can be planted as soon as convenient. 6ft plant packed in a sturdy box so I was very impressed BUT most of the leaves have dark brown spots almost like dark creosote splashes. Why is there always a problem?

So is this a fungal thing? Is it likely to spread to other fruit trees in the garden and do I need to spray it? Also, should I 'complain' to the supplier i.e. should they replace it?

I haven't had fruit trees before so I am relying on advice from GC - please can somebody help?

Doesn't sound normal, best cover yourself for future replacement if needed by dropping the retailer a line. Any pics?

    Hi Loofah
I did contact seller and he said spots were due to heavy rain, which was confirmed by RHS and new shoots should not be affected. He also said before delivery they spray trees with a fungicide so no problem there.

I have in fact given this tree to my son as he has more space in his garden and on condition he will give me some fruit when it appears!

Photo promised when I call round next time.
