Going through the renovations in our cottage, the builders somehow managed to get these rocks (plus the ones piled elsewhere) out of our 60cm internal wall to create a doorway for an en-suite to the spare room ...

These rocks are not small ... the dry stone wall behind is 120cm tall. Bearing in mind this does not include the wheelbarrows full of red clay that held them together!

You can just see there is a pile of gravel to the left, a lot left over from the various works. We spent one and a half hours this morning shovelling gravel into the oversized wheelbarrows they have here and then raking it around our parking area (holds four cars) ... not a mean feat in 28 degree weather and boy was that shower on the patio ever appreciated!

We may, MAY, have one functioning bathroom (actually the en-suite which is a shower room) by Wednesday. The main bathroom is another two weeks away yet as this guy is such a perfectionist (as are his two workers) it makes you sick ... he uses a plumb line and spirit level with every tile, be it on the floor or wall.

What I wouldn`t give to get a bit of 28 degree heat!!!!!!!

The works are taking longer than expected but I don`t think I would complain if they were getting done by a team of perfectionists.

Would like to get my hands on thse rocks, they would go drown a treat in my next garden esp if it was in Spain. :D

The red soil could have been used back in old Blighty to soak up some of this b****y rain.

Fingers crossed for the functioning bathroom on wednesday. [IMG]

Hi, pip. We're not going above 32 ... Faro is hitting about 35 I think though.

This perfectionist told us on day dot that he wanted all materials on site before he started ... he was the person who had a five-week delay with the wall tiles and we still don't know when the glass insets will be in ... production planned for 12 July but when do WE get them?

In the meantime, the builders have not only done what was originally quoted for (fireplace, boiler house, dividing walls for two bathrooms) but have since jackhammered up old tiles in three and a half rooms, dug down 10cm, concreted, screeded and retiled. Then they created a beautiful new dining patio for us having to re-route the plumbing to the opposite side. They have come and gone and we are left with this twit & co ... and still no bathrooms which was the original object of this venture into cementland.

What a lot of work you`ve got going on there , it makes me feel better as your worse off than me :D Our bahtroom was started 5 weeks ago the shower is in at last (what bliss) still can`t decide on floor covering , if we want the same as wall tiles they come from abroad and will take 3 weeks (no sample non returnable) , going off that idea, tried numerous tiles but no luck, still to put the sink and loo in , think we`ll be a few weeks yet

Poor LoL, it will all be worth it in the end. And look on the bright side, at least it's warm enough to have an outside shower there, wouldn't fancy one here at the moment! I am sure when you where moving your gravel you would have given your right arm for cooler weather and rain showers though!
