    HI all,

Recently started taking an interest in my garden, but I have a big root coming from a big tree at the side of my garden up through my lawn. Its not near the house so that doesn't worry me, but it is slowly getting higher and higher out of my lawn!!!!!

Any help would be really appreciated as I am getting married in August and we are having the reception in our garden and I really don't want a root as the centre piece!!!!

    Many thanks

    Not green fingered!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmmm, not sure your going to be able to do much about it without perhaps damaging the tree. What kind of tree is it.

Only think I can suggest is to make a feature of it - cut the lawn away form it grow some moss over it, - cover it with a table for the wedding perhaps :)

It is a Poplar!!! My mum came up with same suggestion as you Fran, to put a table over it at the wedding!

I agree with Fran - you certainly wouldn't be able to do anything in time for the wedding. If you didn't want to make a feature of it, you coud topsoil and turf or seed on top, but you'd have to grade the soil out a very long way, or it would look like a big hump where someone buried the hamster [IMG]

Personally I wouldn't worry about it anyway - lots of the best gardens I see have roots in the lawn, it's just one of those things.
