Hi, does anyone grow canary bird? I've seen it locally bare root and it's described as a ground cover rose on the tag but everything online suggests it is actually a reasonably sized shrub rose. Is this just marketing? I know roses can have more than one characteristic but this rose looks like it has the potential to take over a bit, rather than just create a lowish mound, that I would suggest is the carpeting style.

    Thanks in advance.

I have Canary bird and it is not a ground cover rose. Mine is 20 years old and about 4 to 5 feet tall. It flowers once quite early with semi double yellow flowers and has small leaves and is very healthy.

Thank you, everything I have seen suggests it's more shrubby and some even say it can be trained like a small climber.
It would be a present for my dad as he is a norwich fan, the canaries, so it's more about where it would be planted than the form. I like that it's an early, simple flower, type which the bees might enjoy.
