Just that really - need some inspiration for my upcoming fence + arch build, which I'd love to cover in roses! Would love to see your photos

Cuttings of an un-named rose brought from UK garden. Very heavily perfumed.

My goodness, that is just beautiful! How talented you are :) I love the tiles/stone of your steps too.

Hang on, stop! My head's about to explode :roflol: Thank you for the kind comments. Some bits of this garden did work out, and luckily roses do grow and flower well here. They also root from hardwood cuttings very easily, so most of them are from sticks stuck into the ground in October wherever they were wanted.
The tiles were recuperated from the original barn. There were literally hundreds of them, so we used them to make the paving at the front of the house and several sets of steps.

Very attractive @noisette47. I have one rose, Sunseeker now 3 meters tall and rambling., but cannot get a cutting to root for the life of me. It started as a patio plant from in B&Q on 2001 18" high and I would like another small one.

Have you tried rooting cuttings in pots or in the ground, @Victoria? I've never had any success in pots although I know a couple of keen gardeners who swear that is the best method. Semi-woody stems about pencil thickness or thicker...up to 3/4". About a foot long with 2/3 buried in sandy soil or compost and kept in the shade. Usually ready to transplant the following autumn :)

In pots as I really do not have ground space and I want it in a pot. I've got one going at the moment so will see how it goes.

I've researched it a lot over the years and it's a toss-up between Guinée and Etoile de Hollande :)
