Rose care kits let's compare what we use

    It's that time of year again when we venture out and welcome spring.

    I've learnt loads on this forum and wanted to share what I've got in my rose care kit for newbies to learn too.

    What do you have in yours?
    MY ROSE KIT
    Secateurs
    Wd40 for sec
    Sharpener for sec
    Babywipes to clean sec
    Twine
    Labels
    Label pen
    Thorn proof gloves
    Soapy spray for greenfly
    Rose clear
    Rose food
    Round up spray for weeds
    Hand fork and trowel
    Dutch hoe
    Spade
    Microbial fungi powder

      :wow: You do pamper your roses CRG! :) I have secateurs, gloves and a garden fork. Rose Clear will be added this year due to just one rose suffering black spot. The bed will also get a scattering of chicken manure pellets.

        My Rose kit of 50+ years ago;)

        1. Garden shears(pruning)
        2.Oily Rag(for my back and wiping the the sharp penknife)
        3.Hands (weeding)
        4..Tea/Nettle liquid compost(feeding)
        5.No Gloves(they said your hands will soon toughen up)
        6.No Labels (Head Gardener you don't need'em ,learn and remember your Roses ,we will walk the 5 miles round the rose gardens,I will test you every week)
        7.Head Gardener said there are two more important tools,a sense of humour and bags of enthusiasm and above all always remember that in order of importance here at the big House,I am number one the Roses are number two and who ever you meet here ,treat them with respect and be polite:)

          Hannah's Rose Garden,you sound as though you're all set!

          I see that you're in Cardiff? Have you considered checking out The Rhondda Rose Society. They are a small but dedicated bunch of rose-nuts up the valley. Website is www.rhonddarose.com it's got rose info and details of their meetings. Tell them raytherose sent you and you'll be made very welcome. They have Michael Marriott from David Austin's roses speaking next month.

            4. Three dogs.

                Have you tried the Round up gel, better for those hard to get at weeds, you could get spray drift on to a precious plant.
