Round about last September/October I took some rose cuttings (have never tried this before for some reason) and planted them in some moderate sized pots with a view to eventually planting them in the garden.

They have all rooted (all are putting out new leaves, a few roots are also showing on the underside of the pots) - is now a good time to plant them in my borders? Or do I need to wait until the weather warms up a little more?

Where have you got them, if indoors ie greenhouse, I would harden them off first, if already hardened I would plant out.

I have found that roses grown from cuttings root really easily; I haven't done that many though and all were climbers. When rooted over the winter outside they were ready for potting or planting in the ground in the spring. I always seemed to have too many so potted some up to eventually plant out when I decided where or gave them away.

You don't state what type of roses they are and how vigorous they are. I would say if they are a good size and growing strongly, I would plant them out in their flowering positions. If small and not so big, maybe growing them on in pots for awhile. Without seeing them it's hard to say for sure.

Thanks for the replies (love your dog photo pamsdish :) )

The roses have been outside all winter so are hardened off.

No idea what type they are (some have red flowers, some pink - how's that? ;) )

Each cutting is about 12 inches long, some a little more.

Sounds like they are garden ready. :)
