....I'm so happy that I've managed to root some rose cuttings from a bunch of flowers I bought my wife.

Last year I managed to get some small yellow roses growing from a bunch of cut flowers, this time these were a larger flowered rose with gorgeous ivory/white flower, my wife loved them and so did I so I thought why not, nothing to loose.

About 12 cuttings were prepared and popped in a deep 3 litre pot about 6-8 weeks ago, I put them at the back of the greenhouse out of any direct sunlight. Over the weeks I've been removing the ones that have 'died', whittling it down to 4 cuttings, I checked these yesterday and all have new growth and giving a gentle tug was met with resistance, checking the base of the pot revealed a couple of white root tips poking out of the holes - success!! :dancy:

It's a great feeling when you get a cutting to strike or a seed to grow, isn't it? For me, there is still something a bit magical about it.

Definitely, I take dozens of different cuttings throughout a year and sow hundreds of seeds, you just can't beat it  , especially when like with the rose its supposed to difficult to root roses from cut flowers as they're not fresh, especially when they've been in a vase for a week too...
