Rose cuttings

    Hi. Apologizes if this has already been covered.

    I have some lovely scented roses in the garden this year and would like to take some cuttings for planting out next year.
    Can anyone guide me in the timing and process or at least a link on here if its been covered.

    Good afternoon @TonyBee we will try our best my friend:smile:

    The simplest method of propagation is by hardwood cuttings taken in the Autumn about 9 inches(220 mm)long,or less for short stemmed varieties.
    These should be of well ripened wood which has grown during the previous five months.
    They can be rooted outdoors,but will as a general rule callus during the winter,and not root until the following Summer.They should be left in situ for one year before being dug up and transplanted.The rate of success is variable ,for some varieties are easy to root,and some are almost impossible. :smile:
