I took several cuttings last year all of which have sprouted new leaves. My question is that as all the new growth is halfway down the stem should the bare stem above be cutback to where the growth is? Thanks.

Don't think we would risk cutting anything at this stage, its doing no harm and a cut might let infection in.
Would just let them grow and do any cutting back next autumn or spring.

IMO. Let the buds break and semi mature. Then I'd certainly cut back the none-budding growth. This will allow the growth hormones etc to strengthen up the buds and general growth. Leaving the unwanted stem. This will simply sap the strength and deprive the growing parts. Until that unused top growth actually dies, it is taking valuable neutriments.

If that left one in the picture is significantly taller? maybe cut that one back (reason being to encourage a bushy plant at the bottom), but for the two where the tops are showing in the photo the amount "above the bud" looks fine to me. As @ricky101 said cutting it will create a new wound which the plant will have to heal, and a young cutting with few roots has very few resources and best left to getting on with growing on and not having additional effort of healing or, worse, fighting off an infection

OK thanks ,I'll go with no cut then. Yes Kristen that one on the left is taller, about another inch to what can be seen in the pic. Probably not significant enough maybe, so I think I'll leave it be.
              Thank you :ThankYou:
