    Hello
I planted the rose climber Golden showers this year
I’m very new to roses and could do with some help
My climber flowered orange and seemed a little bit like a wild rose
Not one yellow flower at all, have I planted it wrong and the wild part has come out ?

Hi and Welcome to the Forum,

We also planted a new Golden Showers this year and its now in its second flush of Yellow flowers.

The most likely problem is that someone has mixed up the planting labels, was yours clearly attached or could it have been swapped over by someone.
Also many places are sending out plants not as described due to the pandemic and rush to do gardening.

Another possibility is that the original top growth has died off and as they are Grafted plants you are now seeing the flowers of the Root Stock.

Either way, can you take it back/show a photo of it to the supplier you bought it from ? a garden center or mail order company should replace it if the wrong type sent.

    @Alfiesmum , @ricky101
I would love to see some pictures. We are currently in the middle of deciding between a "golden shower" and a "golden gate", so honest pictures would be appreciated. Sadly those shop images are always exaggerated.

    Hi @Black Dog

Will post some pics later today.

Have you considered the yellow Gardeners Glory that @wiseowl mentioned in that other thread ?

Good afternoon @ricky101 my apologies for popping in on this thread but when purchasing a "Golden Gate" Rose there are 5 on the market plus a white one with the same name I'll get my coat now;)

        Hi @Black Dog ,

A couple of pics of our Golden Shower in its second flush at about 1.3 mtrs high ( planted this spring). though things have been overcast and a strong cool wind for over a week.

Most of the blooms are starting to go over and becoming very pale as you can see, though initially they are a good yellow. The foliage seems good and healthy.

Thanks for the pictures. Those look lovely but I already heard they tend to go pale after blooming.

Decided to go for a 'Golden Gate' instead, but this thread was really helpful to make a decision

I dont expect them to be that different, so the availability from where i live made the biggest difference
