I would like to plant some rose bushes (ramblers/wild) in a hedge around my garden, can anybody recommend a good rose for this situation? Bright or dark colours , or both, but nice and smelly.
I am thinking i can plant them in the hedge so they can grow up through it and brighten the hedge up in the summer.
Is this a good idea?

Good morning Robgil,I would go for rambling Roses as they will go with the conditions better,
But please remember that they will almost certainly only flower once a year.:)

Rambling Rector,Wedding Day,Sir Cedric Morris,Francis E Lester,Pauls Himalayan Musk.

2 other ramblers that you could try are CITY OF YORK, PHYLIS BIDE and these may repeat their flowers in the autumn but this will depend on the weather.

Thank you. I have a pink rambler that i dont know the name of and it pretty much flowers right through to autumn. I have tried taking cuttings but the hedge is a good 50 feet long so i would need quite a few.
Do you know of any really scented roses that might take to these conditions? We have a few rose bushes in the garden but not many give off good scents and i do like a good smelly rose.
