I ordered a couple of these a while back, and to be honest I have forgotten where I was intending on planting them :oopss: - anyway, they have arrived (bareroot) today, so I will need to get them planted out tomorrow; I don't have any manure, but I did buy a bag of pelleted chicken manure yesterday which I assume will be good enough?

As these reach a reasonable height and spread, I am thinking of putting one at the patio end of the border - in the space between the trellis on the fence, and the small wall enclosing the wee border:

And then plant another at the end of this border (slightly shadier), trimming back the shrub on the left (which I forget the name of now) to accommodate.

Do these look to be suitable locations? Any other tips or hints are of course gratefully received. :)

I bought 2 Queen Elizabeth's at the end of last year. I planted with pelleted Chicken manure and they have done great. Lovely scent too.

Thanks :) The ones I have are floribunda, which I am hoping will give me a host of blooms in years to come.

Will they repeat flower, or do they have a short flowering period?

They do repeat flower and have one of the best blooms in my rose world,Named after the Queen Mother, she insisted that it was to called "The Queen Elizabeth Rose",They grow where other rose aren't happy and are just great at the back of the border or will be just as happy growing with just about anything especially for under planting:)

        3 1/2-4' flowers with 30-35 petals

I must admit that I am leaning more and more toward perennial plants for the borders around the grass, and I am particularly fond of roses and fuchsias - I may well be seeking more advice in future for suggested varieties.

I popped out earlier and planted the two Queen Elizabeth's - nice substantial roots on them, so hopefully they will do well

Queen Elizabeth is big, bold and beautiful. Looks best at the very back of your rose border.

Grand - I've sited them at the back and to the end of the borders. As it happens, I didn't need to trim the shrub on the greenhouse side of the garden as there was plenty of space behind it for the rose.

Somewhat embarrassingly, I have ordered another two roses that will be arriving soon - but I cannot for the life of me remember what they are :oopss:, so no doubt I'll be looking for advice sooner rather than later.

I really must stop making these impulsive purchases, or at the least I should keep a note of them and where I plan to put them!

Hi F/controller no need to be embarrassed ,these impulsive purchases are quite normal in the Rose world ;) what else could give you twenty/thirty years of enjoyment for just a few pounds and a little TLC,the colour and scent etc :)

My 'One and Only' has arrived from T&M - I'll need to get it planted out tomorrow. I quite fancy putting it up against the back fence, but its only gets full sun in the early part of the day, and is in partial shade thereafter - will this be OK?
