Here's a couple of blooms making their way. The roses look set for a storming season this year. No aphids and hardly any black spot as yet. Mildew on the manky old Zepririne Drouhin though (surprise surprise).

    That's Ferdinand Pichard

    And that's La Reine Victoire.

jazid I looked at Ferdinand Pichard a couple of years ago but didn't buy one. One of the best roses I have ever seen and it looks like you have a really good strain there as I read they can be a bit hit and miss with the colour mix. First Class, enter it in the competition and I would vote for it!

I took a photo of my Scotsman (oo er) yesterday and have never been that impressed with it amongst my collection.

    Hi there,

I think my Ferdinand Pichard IS a good example, a little lax in growth possibly but cracking flowers and no disease (which this location seems to promote). It came from a garden centre - nowhere special. Everybody's roses look fab. I'll take some more to keep this jollying along when I get the hang of my new digital camera (too many buttons for an old grouch)

What competition is that BM? Is that a figure of speech or is it another case of 'what is going on here?' (my mantra)

A few more. One of Winchester Cathedral:

This is the shrubby Clematis integrifolia (variety) in foreground, Winchester Cathedral behind, and Chapeau de Napoleon lurking in the background:

    This is Graham Thomas:

This is Napoleon's Hat (pity the buds aren't visible):

And this is the garden they grow in [IMG]

My client owns a few acres of Mayfair.

    :D

No but I work around and about thank God. I just live in dirty bomb central.

Winchester Cathedral is nice and grows in light shade (in a floppy sort of way) so is very useful to me in town, although the foliage is apple green, matt, and the zillions of prickles are a right b****r when deadheading.

My absolute favourite flowers are yellow roses - with certain pink ones comming a close second (even though I'm not a pink & fluffy girlie). I have no idea why yellow roses do what they do to me, they just do it. I have three David Austin rose bushes I bought last year in flower at the moment, but looking a bit battered (I think the digger gave them a whallop as it went by.... hence no pics)... does anyone have any amazing yellow climbers you could recommend?? Preferably repeat flowering.....
