Has anyone grown a rose from seed? Do they germinate easily/quickly?

Hi joolz, just trawling through a few posts while I'm working away (locked up in my lonely hotel room) and found your post about seeds. I wondered what sort of results you got?
My wife showed me the ebay advert for green rose seeds a while back, it raised a smile must say.
The only real 'green' rose that is a vailable is the green rose or rosa viridiflora.

I think you'll agree that this is not the same variety as the one offered? Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. These ebayers should be taken to task, I know that they are only charging a pound a packet but I wonderhow many packets are sold to innocent punters? I notice they are also selling black and multi-coloured rose seeds - rip off artists all of them.

I have a rose I grew from seed. My husband bought me some rose seeds in a tin, the idea being that you could then name it when it grew. Several germinated, and I have one large bush now with small pale pink flowers, not very spectacular but quite a nice idea. I didn't bother naming it though.
