.. but how do I paint the house?

I have the perfect porch to grow roses round, and plenty of other bare walls just crying out for a trellis or two. Trouble is I have a rendered house and so will have to paint every few years... how can I get round this?

Screw a trellis to the wall and train your roses up this. If your reasnably practical, you can easily make a trellis up using roofing batten.

When it comes to painting, unscrew the trellis and pull back enough to get a roller in behind, rest a stepladder or bit of 4x2 aginst the trellis to take the weight.

Make sure you use stainless steel screws to fix the trellis and labricate them with a smear of grese before you screw them in so as to allow for easy removal.

If you go with the trellis idea Jesaya (like Pro Gard says) it is indeed ideal to make sure you use stainless steel as normal screws will rust and leave horrible rust marks all the way down your walls...not nice at all!

Or you could use brass screws as they are easier to get. (never do them up too tight as being brass they are softer)
