    Hi,

My lawn has various rough patches and also the surface is not even.

I went to local garden store and they recommended to use top soil and multipurpose compost together to level the surface and then use seed.

Do you think above will work fine. My garden is bit shady and also should I cut the grass the first?

    Any help will be appreciated.

Mane, let us have some pics of the area. To me, it sounds as if the best bet is to dig the area over and start again.

    Couple of different options....
Topsoil and multi. Sounds like staff are on commission. Topsoil and bonemeal would do the same thing .... Need to rake area clear of dead foliage .. Add grass seed then topsoil and bone meal mod together... Two weeks of watering every night ....

Or cut out the areas and replace with turf. Small patches .... Green instantly .. Should be able to buy a roll of turf for about £3

    I added pics.....

There were lot weeds in my lawn. About 10 days ago I used Evergreen 4 in 1 and it has killed the weeds....

I have already purchased about 150L top soil and 150L compost.

So here are the steps with option 1 ?

1- Cut the grass and rack the area
    2- Add grass seed
    3- Add top soil
    4- Add bone meal

    Should I bin the compost?

I got about 150L of top soil. How much bone meal and seed should I use and where to buy bone meal and seed?

My garden is about 38 feet x 15 feet.

Can I just say one more thing ..... If you use multi purpose compost and the weather turns nice ... The compost will dry out very quickly and then a gust of wind and next door has 150 ltrs of compost ....
That's why I suggested earlier the top soil .......

A kilo of bone meal shouldn't cost much more than £3 a loose handful per bag of topsoil ... I presume the topsoil is in 20 ltr bags?

Grass seed... Get some general purpose seed .. It's got ryegrass in it. Any hardware store or garden centre .......
The money you get back on the compost will be more than enuf to buy the grass seed and bone meal ........

top soil is 25 ltr bag so there are total 6 bags....

Are you saying 1 kilo bone meal will be good for the 150 ltr top soil?

100% more than enough ..... Make sure the bonemeal is mixed in with the topsoil

Ps. You can't over water ......... Oscillator and hosepipe ....
