    Hi All

Last year was the last use of my Runner Bean canes I normally use about 7' canes. What do other people use and where is best to buy them I guess there are some good plastic or fiberglass ones available somewhere at a reasonable cost??

Any advise will be appreciated I normally use 24 canes between 4 boxes 6 in each box.

    Thanks

    Dave

It depends on where in the garden you are growing your beans. If you are going to grow them by a fence then you can do without canes completely and use string/twine attached to pins in the top of the fence.

I usually use 8' canes and push them about 18" into the ground to make them sturdy. I grow between 100 and 150 plants each year - if the slugs will leave them alone

    Hi Both

No and No looks like they have some in B&Q so its back to the bamboo canes for now. I think I was being a bit mean or slow they are only £3? for 10 I was told. Sounds like a bargain to me!!

    Thanks for the replies

    Dave

Not too bad a price - I think. They last for years - some of mine are over 20 years old and they overwinter propped up against a tree in the garden.

    Good luck [IMG]

I use the Buddleia stems that I've pruned they're about 7'. Have to keep an eye on them 'cause they've got a tendency to start re-growing :D
