Hi All, I have just found 3 pods of runner bean seeds on last years plant. They are dry and rattle in the pod when shaken. Can anyone tell me if it is worth planting them? Would be great if I could get them to grow. Many thanks x:help:

Funny you should ask that TLJ
I have some tubs I grew my beans in last year still in situ, when I started to clear away the tubs I found a bean growing quite happily 6" high. I pulled it out and it has a bean on the end so it must be one didn`t germinate last year,

What have you got to lose by sowing the beans ,a little compost ??

hi, i normally save beans that have dried on the plants for the following year so i would give them a try, maybe try them in a large container with canes, freddie.

I save runner beans seeds every year, and the very last ones can be a bit manky.

So if these have been out all winter, I suggest you have a backup in place.
