I had a lot of brown marks on my apple tree's leaves last year which are starting to appear again.I took a couple of sample leaves to my local garden center and they said it looked like rust.If that is the problem how do I sort it out and also how do I prevent it from happening in the future.Thank's

I would ask the garden centre what product they can recommend.

I have had rust on my roses in the past and spray at the first signs.

Not much availible to amatuer growers these days, on edible plants, I dont think.
Rust was always a difficult one anyway.
