First of all, can anyone tell me what variety this is please? Second, what's wrong with it, and how do I fix it? You can't see too clearly on the photo, but the bottom half, where all the flowers are, is covered in black/brown spots. Can I just chop out the affected stems?

Hi parcheesy, the black/brown spots will be on the old leaves, you can cut these off along with the dead flowers leaving the clump of new leaves. This is normal procedure for most hellebores, there isn't a lot wrong with your plant :)

Its 'Argutifolius' or Corsican hellebore I have it too, as Bilbo says its normal for the plant to do this at this time of year I've just been cutting the old flower stems and leaves off mine :)
