I haven't been on GC for a while owing to bad attack of something like SAD.
Last week I really had something to be sad about. My little boy dog Bud, aged 9, became very ill quite suddenly and was diagnosed with kidney failure. There was nothing the vet could suggest as he was so poorly, and he died last Thursday.
He's buried in the garden next to his sister Blossom who died nearly 3 years ago. He was only 9 and the youngest of my dogs. Bud was a very gentle, quiet little dog, and loved nothing better than a snuggle on a comfy lap. I think the best pictures of him must be on my PC; I could only find these:

My 2 remaining dogs, Minnie and Polly [his Mum and Aunty] are very sad as well, mooching around and not even cheering up for their walks. :(

Hi Liz, so sorry to hear about Bud, he was a lovely dog, the second picture is beautiful. It will take quite a while to get over his loss, not only for you but also for Minnie and Polly. But as WOO says, you have many friends here and so many of us know what you are going through. Our thoughts are with you.

I lost my first ever dog, Duke, last year, just after i came home from my double bypass. I know how you feel, I would just break down without warning. It will soon get better and you will be able to remember all the good times you had with him and I bet he had a happy life.
I busied myself collecting all the photos together, that reminded me of what he was like before he was old. I still keep things to remind me, his collar and his Pets as Therapy coat.
I only had Duke for 9 years, cause he was a rescue dog, but i feel honoured that we shared his life for that time and you should feel the same. Best wishes.

I can only repeat what everyone else has said, Liz. I hope you can get to the stage soon where you can remember the good times.

Take care, and get out into that sun that BM was talking about. Maybe you need to invest in one of those lamps..... pity they're so expensive.

Liz - sorry to hear your news. However whilst Bud may be physically gone, you got 9 years of memories that can be recalled at will.

Sun indeed came out today - and spring is very much on the way. Hold on in there.
