Hello. It's a lovely day here in sunny Wakefield. Am I safe to put my plants in the greenhouse now? I've got cucumbers (about 12" tall); tomatoes (8" tall); Physalis (2"); Aubergines (3"); Peppers (3") and Chillis (4"). It's not a heated greenhouse but is in a south facing garden and currently the plants are in my very warm conservatory. I'm new to all this so any help appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Kathy I'm from sunny Scarborough and spotted your post when I came in for a cup of tea after transferring my toms, sweet peppers and chillies into the g.house My physalis have been in there for nearly 2 weeks and I put a couple of each in at the beginning of the week to test. Aubergines I can't help you with I'm afraid, but all the others tested OK in a south facing, sheltered g.house.

    hi kathy

i put my plants in the greenhouse about 3 weeks ago could'nt cope anymore as they were taking over the conservatory !

i had my greenhouse late last yr so this is my first yr growing in there too ,

i have placed all my cucumbers at the back as they grow tallest (so they don't hit the sides)

then on the left side i have placed all my toms and on the right side i have my strawberrys , chillis , peppers , melons , carrots , spring onions, radish as they don't grow as tall they get the light first thing and arn't over shadowed by the tall toms.

i did grow all these last yr but in a coldframe the chillis & peppers i left them to do there own thing just fed them with tomato feed once a week when in flower,

tomatos and cucumbers i fed once a week when they started to flower

i left the cucumbers to grow round and then suported them at the roof and the toms i removed the tops when i had about 6 trusses on oh and don't forget to remove the side shoots

Physalis & Aubergines i can't help with sorry as i have never grown them .

    hope that helps abit

    happy gardening

    lisa

Kathy, Catt said to remove side shoots from toms. If they are the more common vine toms that is right. But if you happen to be growing bush toms then don't.

That's really helpful, thank you. Didn't know I could put strawberries in the greenhouse, I've grown some from seed but they are still tiny. Thanks for your help.
