I sowed mixed salad last weekend in a large container covered with glass. Today they're growing away merrily, I think salad is pretty tough and you can get it going early outside. I sowed radish two weeks ago in the ground and they've germinated OK.

I have Lettuce starting off in pots in the greenhouse - 1st batch sown 1st March, and 2nd batch sown 1st April. Ditto Beetroot and Chard. My Toms, Cues, Aubergines, Peppers are coming on well too, but they are destined for the greenhouse.

I grow my lettuce ,spring onions ,rocket ,in a raised bed against the fence quite near the back door .i sowed the seed about 2 weeks ago and my lettuce is sprouting well so is the rocket, i put garlic in the 1 through the winter and that is doing really well in between the garlic i sprinkled a catch crop of radish last week and they are showing through quite well, none of this has any other protection other than the fence, when the sun shines :skp: they are in sun for at least 5 hours

I planted out some cut and come again organic lettuce this morning. They have grown on in the conservatory to about 3" high.
Weather mans says possible 6C so I reckon they should survive the night.
