Have I been "had"?!! I was at an open garden plant sale on Sunday, as well as the plants donated there was a seller who obviously ran a nursery business selling various bits and pieces at the sale . Most of the donated plants I already had so ventured over to see what the business had for sale. The owner assured me 100% that Salvia Bulleyana is fine grown where I live (Fife, Scotland, quite high but not talking up a mountain!) Having looked on the net it looks as tho I am right to have been dubious re it's hardiness capabilities. I'm just annoyed with myself that I didn't trust my own knowledge and was persuaded to buy something which is not likely to do well. Does anybody have knowledge of this plant? and any tips for success despite the less than balmy climate here. Thanks.

I grow it silu, perfectly hardy here in the midlands its been in my garden 3 years now with no winter protection, maybe a mulch would help it with you ??, it does die back completely but emerges again in spring, not as good as normal this year but then again a lot of my salvias haven't been.
It is a lovely one :)

Thanks Simbad, maybe I am being less than optimistic! Normally we aren't too wet here which often causes plants more problems than cold. I'll ask on the link you kindly supplied and see if a mulch would be a good idea.

I would, as Robin (of Robins Salvias) looks in there from time to time!
