    No (in a word)!
The leaves look right, but the flowers are like my S.dolicantha (one of the Chinese group). The Chinese Salvia hybridise readily, so my guess is that it's a hybrid.

Hopefully @nibor will see this and put me right!

Thanks. Savlias I grew last from seed year (it overwintered outside, but was uber-mild here) included:

    Salvia chamaedryoides
Salvia gesneraeflora 'Tequila' (that would be Red, right?!)
    Salvia forsskaolii(
    Salvia farinacea "Victoria Blue"
    SALVIA HIANS
    Salvia verticillata
    Plectranthus barbatus
    SALVIA AZUREA
    Salvia elegans

Don't know anything about that one...........

    Correct. Autumn/winter bloomer.

Clearly not that, but one of the parents?

    Clearly not that either.

Must likely suspect as a lot of the seed sold is incorrect from what I understand. Shame really as my seed grown ones are about to bloom, so lord knows what I'll have!

Don't know anything about that one...........

    Choice!

    Nope!

    Another red autumn/winter/spring bloomer.

Might be S. hians as my recollection is that only one seed germinated ... and I appear to only have one plant!

It's not, but many things are sold as S.hians, so the most likely source of Kristens plant is the plant that he thought was S.hians. The true species appears to be like rocking horse poo! I have a seed grown S.hians coming into bloom but the odds of it actually being S.hians are remote.
