It wasn't until I took these photos that I realised that they are both the same species. The tall one actually produces apple like fruit every year with a darkish red flesh and red skin. The weeping version hasn't produced any fruit yet.

    Any thoughts please ?

I've corrected the orientation of you photo's so that there easier to see:gnthb:

It might also be useful for a close up of the flowers and leaves as there are quite a few similar looking trees around this time of year:wink:

They're not apple sized, more like Plum size though. I was thinking a species of Crab Apple perhaps. Here are three more photos. The left hand leaf and first flower photo is the tall tree.

The colours of the leaves couldn't be more different, but then again at the moment there's all sorts of different colours going from dark purplish through to full green.

Is the one with the fruit not the Prunus Pissardi perhaps? I'm not very good at trying to ID things on thumbnail photos, sorry. However, I have one and it has dark leaves, pretty white/pinkish flowers and fruits that are shaped like cherry tomatoes and are dark red skinned and fleshed.

    Just a guess ...

Haven't a clue on the other as it could be a myriad of flowering cherries/plums/etc at the moment, which are all of the Prunus family so the same species.

Three months later, I have a photo of the fruit to show you.

Anymore thoughts on what the tree could be ?

I believe that the columnar tree is Malus Profusion, a cherry-like crab apple. The other I'm not sure of.
