Some of you may have seen a wooden building in photos of my garden that I built a few years ago, and usually refer to as my Tea Shed. As we all know, a cup of tea and place to drink it is an important part of gardening. The time has now come to make a few changes to the interior.

First up was to lay a new floor, make a hearth and then put something on it to warm the place up...

At this stage, I decided to change the colour of the walls. First was to put on a coat of white "structure paint", and then cover that with a colour that goes by the name here of S0550-Y50R. Much more romantic than calling it "peach" or something!

    IMG_0119.JPG

The hearth of course needs a fire surround, so out came my woodworking tools. Four dovetailed boxes were made...

...and together with some turned pillars...

...and some other parts, this was the result...

Your carpentry skills are awesome! Are you leaving the wood au naturel or staining it?

@"M" thank you for the kind words.

I'll be staining it. Perhaps later this week, or maybe when I have made the next pieces for in there.

@toppington When there is a bit more colour in the garden, I'll post a photo that shows the view I have when having a cuppa...

Not all...I'm currently making a Credence Cupboard to put the tea in. As we all know, the true religion of the British is tea drinking. :snork:

@Irmemac the view from there is over the rose garden. I've done a lot of work in that whole area this year, and as soon as they are in bloom, will be posting pictures.

You need to bring your skills over to London - that wouldn't be a shed here, that would be a studio flat!

I've actually got a small problem in there at present. To make it a bit more British, I'd like to put large aspidistras to the left and right of the fire. Can you believe there is not a single one to be had anywhere here? Our Gracie would be turning in her grave! :snork:
