I grow several sanguisorbas. Lovely foliage and airy flowers. However, they don't seem widely grown and I wonder why. :noidea:
Some provide height in the perennial border without the need for staking; others will offer subtlety as with Red Thunder with bobbles of floating red flowers all summer. Lilac Squirrel is an exquisite variety with lipstick pink caterpillar flowers irresistable to most everyone who sees it. Alba has white flowers to 6', Pink Tanna has pink and white flowers to about 4' but there are many more.
Perfect with grasses and, like them, sanguisorbas provide movement in the slightest of breezes.
So folks.....Who else grows these plants. What are your favourites :)

I only have Sanguisorba officinalis 'Arnhem' in amongst my ornamental grasses, it is just a single plant and really it would look better planted en-mass, but we still like it. Very easy and practically maintenance free except it does need staking up as it gets very tall.

We have all the ones you mention plus a tiny variegated one whose name escapes me at present.

Thanks folks for your replies :)
Variegated one Palustris? New to me :). Like it?
In my sandy loam none of mine has needed staking.......Pink Elephant is a new acquisition for me and this can get tall but I am hoping it will stand up well
